Three-hundred-and-fifty years after Rembrandt’s death, the Dutch Master’s work has endured. Considered by many to be nearly unequalled in talent, Rembrandt brought subtle and earnest vision to his art and developed a style that represented the very pinnacle of the Dutch Golden Age.

This returning EXHIBITION ON SCREEN production details the later life and works of Rembrandt in participation with the National Gallery in London and Rijksmuseum museum in Amsterdam. This landmark collaboration between both galleries traces the famous artist’s life and the art fuelled by it, exploring the truth about the man behind the legend.

Vincent van Gogh is synonymous with the transcendent beauty of art and tortured genius. His work became a beacon for modernist art despite being unappreciated in his lifetime. With such unique vision, even among his contemporaries, few have studied the Dutch painter’s fixation with Japanese art and aesthetics.

Van Gogh & Japan chronicles this relationship with a detailed study of how Van Gogh integrated Japanese art into his own style. Director David Bickerstaff highlights the clear parallels and inspirations Van Gogh took from Japanese scenes and how he bent these influences into an identity and style with clear Asian precursors. Van Gogh & Japan takes place in France, the Netherlands and Japan and explores the remarkable art that so enthralled Van Gogh and made him the artist we know today.
